- BSc (hons) Forestry & Applied Zoology (UCNW, Bangor, 1977).
- MA Museum Studies (UCL London, 1994).
- AMA Museum Association Diploma (1995).
Employment and experience
- 1977-1980 Scientific Officer in the Lepidoptera section NHM Entomology Department.
- 1980-1997 Curator Hemiptera section, working on Aphidoidea, publishing taxonomic papers with Dr Roger Blackman.
- 1997-2003 Lead Curator, responsible for Hemiptera, Collembola, Neuroptera, Orthoptera, Phthiraptera, Psocoptera, Thysanoptera, and Trichoptera pinned, slide and spirit collections and associated databases, reprint and correspondence.
- 2003 to present Collections Manager as above.

Additional information
- I am particularly interested in the preparation, conservation and management of microscope slide collections and I lecture and consult on this subject internationally.
- I am interested in aphid taxonomy in particular the taxonomy of the South American Aphid genus Neuquenaphis in Chile.
- I have compiled Conservation Surveys of the insect collections at Perth Museum & Art Gallery, Scotland (1994), of microscope slide collections at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London (1999) and of the insect collections at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (2002).
